Introduced in the latest release of IntelliDNS is an innovative Content Routing feature, that combines DNS-based and HTTP-based traffic redirection, supporting session persistence for e-commerce and protocol remapping for non-HTTP services.

Traditional DNS-based routing and HTTP redirection have their own limitations and advantages over the other, while IntelliDNS, with Content Routing, combines both techniques, gaining their benefits for optimal Internet traffic management.
High Accuracy
When a domain is configured to use Content Routing, DNS lookup on this domain will be replied with the IP address of an IntelliDNS server. It results in direct connection between the client and IntelliDNS server, which will then redirect HTTP-based traffic from the client to the best content server, based on the verified client IP address. In this way, Content Routing eliminates a major shortcoming of DNS-based routing, in which DNS lookup is actually done by a local DNS server rather than the client itself. The client and its "local" DNS server are not necessarily at the same location. It may cause imprecision when redirecting traffic.
Pikaba Server Persistence
IntelliDNS 4.0 is the ultimate solution for e-commerce. Once a client is redirected by IntelliDNS to an optimal content server, the web browser will use the new URL (after HTTP redirection of IntelliDNS) to communicate subsequently with the content server, and thus maintaining session persistence. It is essential for online transactions such as e-shopping, e-banking and other interactive services including form filling and service personalization.
Fault Tolerance
With intelligent health check, IntelliDNS provides higher availability of served sites than traditional DNS-based or HTTP-based routing. Even a URL of a failed server is book-marked by a client, IntelliDNS will check server status and redirect HTTP traffic only to servers that run properly.
Non-HTTP Traffic
Unlike HTTP-redirection, IntelliDNS 4.0 supports protocol remapping that can transparently remap an HTTP URL to other protocols like HTTPS, RTSP and MMS (e.g., from http://www.unitechnetworks.com to rtsp://streaming.unitechnetworks.com) and enable non-HTTP services.
